Incorporating Disney at home for the holidays!

Hey everyone, I’m Mike, she’s Sophie, that’s Brenda, and he’s Grogu, and We’re On the Road with Mickey! This is episode 290, and our feature topic this week is Incorporating Disney at home for the holidays! Today’s episode is taking a look at how we incorporate Disney into our lives at home, especially for the holidays. Here’s what we talked about:

  • Cheddar from the Big Cheese:
    • Sophie: Coming to the Disney Destiny, which as you know, had its Christening last week, a brand new Broadway-style stage adaptation of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hercules! Aptly titled “Disney Hercules”, the show will stay true to the original story and will feature such iconic songs as “Go the Distance”, “Zero to Hero”, and “I Won’t Say I’m in Love”! In addition, it will also feature a brand new ballad called “Shooting Star”!
    • Mike: Also coming to the Disney Destiny: Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, a new Lion King inspired dining experience!
    • Brenda: Just a friendly reminder to all the early 2026 Walt Disney World guests that the Disney Skyliner will be closed for routine maintenance on January 25-31, 2026. Complimentary bus service will be available in its place.

Top 5 Moments of Pixie Dust!

Hey everyone, I’m Mike, she’s Sophie, that’s Brenda, and he’s Grogu, and We’re On the Road with Mickey! This is episode 288, and our feature topic this week is our Top 5 Moments of Pixie Dust! Today we’re taking a look at those special moments of Pixie Dust that we have experienced, or that we have shared with other Guests! Here’s what we talked about:

  • Cheddar from the Big Cheese:
    • Mike: In refurbishment news, Spaceship Earth reopened after a small refurbishment of about 2 months. No scene changes were made, but things were refreshed, and in particular, the “Thank the Phoenicians” scene now has the boats in that scene moving again, something that hasn’t happened in a long time.
    • Brenda: As I already kind of spilled the beans about during our last episode, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be closed from November 10-13, 2025. During this 3-day refurbishment, the ride will be changed from a 3-D attraction to a 2-D attraction. Once it reopens, there will be no more need for the 3-D glasses.
    • Sophie: In Haunted Mansion news, the Walt Disney Imagineering series called “We Call It Imagineering” had an episode on YouTube about the Haunted Mansion, Phantom Manor, and Mystic Manor. Here’s the YouTube link if you want to watch it! We Call It Imagineering | Haunted Mansion, Phantom Manor & Mystic Manor | Foolish Mortals

  • Feature Topic: Top 5 Moments of Pixie Dust!
    • This week, we’re reliving some of the wonderful moments that make going to a Disney Park among the favorite things we do. We’re looking at how Cast Members sprinkled us with Pixie Dust, and how we, in turn, may have sprinkled Pixie Dust on someone else. This feel good episode is brought to you by the letter W, which, of course, stands for Walt.
    • Brenda:
      • 1) All of the wonderful memories with my family at the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
      • 2) Aleyah’s 1st visit to WDW – and she started walking at 1yo there and it was extra special. The cast members would cheer her on just like we did at locations around the parks. I also love the memories of McKinley’s and Luna’s 1st trips as well.
      • 3) Celebrating the girls’ 5th birthdays – which is kind of our family’s right of passage. The first one was also the birth of the Fairy Grandmother sneaking gifts into the room each night as special surprises.
      • 4) Yeehaw Bob’s show the first time McKinley went and how she became alive – like she was finally in her element.
      • 5) Meeting Disney friends from around the U.S. Friends and clients, specifically: PJ, Kevin, Barbie and Mary; Amber and Mike and family; and Cassie and Sophia. It is great to meet Disney friends and they sure made my trips extra special.
    • Sophie:
      • 1) Gwendolyn – Crystal Palace – Job reference
      • 2) Denora – Hollywood & Vine – endless water on a hot, hot day
      • 3) A newly engaged couple who needed a little bit of airflow
      • 4) The Skipper on the Jingle Cruise with Memaw
      • 5) Chris & Billy – Billy’s Closet of Magic
    • Mike:
      • 1) The Cast Members at Port Orleans French Quarter who gave Sophie coins and beads for Mardi Gras.
      • 2) The Cast Member at the Main Street Bakery who gave Sophie a Chocolate Chip Cookie for the Year of a Million Dreams from Cinderella.
      • 3) The Cast Member at Connections Eatery that was in line with Robin, Shane, Stephanie, and the girls for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
      • 4) Character Interactions
      • 5) Friends we meet in line and handing out Paper Fast Passes to other families.
  • Sophie’s Question of the Week:
    • What’s your favorite Pixie Dust Moment?
  • This Day in Disney History for 11/3:
  • Stump the Soph!
    • Alberto Scorfano from Luca
  • A little bit of Walt
    • “Let your heart guide you…it whispers so listen closely.” –  Walt Disney
