Your Favorite Moderate Resort and Why
Hey everyone, I’m Mike, she’s Sophie, and that’s Brenda, and we’re On the Road with Mickey! This is Season 2, Episode 38 for September 20, 2021, and our feature topic today is Your Favorite Moderate Resort and Why. For today’s podcast we are continuing our three part look at our favorite resorts. Today we are looking at our favorite moderate resort. Next week we’ll conclude our look by looking at our favorite deluxe resort. As always, we want to hear from you. What are your favorites? Let us know in the comments! Now, here’s the rundown of what we talked about:
- Updates from last week:
- We had some more listener feedback on their favorite Value Resorts. Cindy said that she always loved Pop, but with the addition of the Skyliner they love it even more! Deb said that Music was wonderful but now that they have stayed at Pop, they love the convenience of the Skyliner! Are we seeing a trend here on how much people love the Skyliner?
- Cheddar from the Big Cheese
- Brenda: The Candlelight Processional is returning to Epcot this year! Starting November 26, it will run during the Festival of the Holidays until December 30. For this year, rather than use guest choirs from different community groups and schools, Disney is expanding their cast member choir. Disney expects guest choirs to return next year.
- Sophie: One day, Nemo is gone for good, the next day, it’s back! A new reimagined show, based on the same characters, will debut in 2022! So, if you were hoping for a return to Finding Nemo to Animal Kingdom Park, it will be back!
- Mike: Coming back on the radar — dessert parties and fireworks cruises! Starting September 18, the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise is coming to the Magic Kingdom. Also, over at the Tomorrowland Terrace, there will be 3 different dessert parties starting October 3rd. There’s a “Pre-party” and “after-party” option that you can enjoy desserts before the fireworks, with reserved standing viewing of the fireworks in one of the plaza gardens, and one called Treats and Seats where you enjoy desserts and special seating at the Terrace. Also, over at Epcot, there will be two Harmonious fireworks dining packages coming. One is over at the Rose & Crown, and the other one is at the Spice Road Table. Both start on October 1.
- Brenda: Dining reservations for Space 220 opened this morning. This unique dining experience will take diners on a journey from Earth to the stars, a simulated 220 miles above Earth’s surface, for an immersive experience that will delight all the senses. The menus for the two-course prix fixe lunch and the 3-course prix fixe dinner were announced last week. The cost for 2-course lunch is $55 per adult and $29 per child. The cost for the 3-course dinner is $79 per adult and $29 per child. The restaurant is not accepting reservations for Sept 20-26 but will accept walk-ins only. Reservations can now be made for Sept 27 and beyond.

- Continuing from last week, this is part 2 of a 3 part series. Next week we’ll be looking at the Deluxe resorts. For this week, though, a reminder that the Moderate resorts are Caribbean Beach Resort, Coronado Springs Resort, Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, and The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Which is your favorite, and why?
- Brenda’s Favorite:
- Port Orleans Riverside
- Ol’ Man Island
- Port Orleans Riverside
- Sophie’s Favorite:
- The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
- The Meadow Pool
- The Wilderness Pool
- The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
- Mike’s Favorite:
- Coronado Springs Resort AND Port Orleans French Quarter
- The Lost City of Cibola Pool/ Dig Site
- Doubloon Lagoon
- Coronado Springs Resort AND Port Orleans French Quarter
- Listener Favorites:
- PJ: Port Orleans Riverside is the best! You can’t beat the ambiance and the gift shop is great. The river boat ride to Disney springs is our favorite too.
- John: Love Riverside and Coronado Springs. Both have great landscaping. Both pools are the tops in our book. I enjoy the quick service and the sit down at Riverside more. Have not done the sit down at Coronado Springs. The last few times, the quick service Peppers Market had lost some of its great taste. Haven’t been there in a few years. Would like to try it again to see if it has improved.
- This Day in Disney History for September 20
- Disney Who’s Who Character
- Grumpy from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- A little bit of Walt
- “The first year (at Disneyland) I leased out the parking concessions, brought in the usual security guards – things like that – but soon realized my mistake. I couldn’t have outside help and still get over my idea of hospitality. So now we recruit and train every one of our employees. I tell the security police, for instance, that they are never to consider themselves cops. They are there to help people. The visitors are our guests. It’s like running a fine restaurant. Once you get the policy going, it grows.” – Walt Disney
- Coming next week: Your Favorite Deluxe Resort and Why.
- Sponsorship
- On the Road with Mickey is sponsored by Pixie Vacations by Mike Ellis, Tech Solutions NC, and Brenda Plans.
